Weathered Wood Holiday Envelopes
Today I thought I would share with you a technique that a friend of mine, Donna, shared with me a couple of years back for creating a weathered wood background.

To do it, you need woodgrain cardstock (or in this case, an
You can make a bunch of these at once as well; these envelopes take ink really well and dry in no time. Be sure and make a couple of passes with your heat tool before you try to emboss though, just in case.
To decorate this envelope, I blended in some Hero Arts Shadow Ink in Soft Granite from around the edges. It took two layers to get it nice and even.

Then I stamped the wreath (Farmhouse Wreaths, Whimsy Stamps) where I wanted my address to be using Versamark Ink and heat embossed it with White Embossing Powder.

To make the shine around the “knots” in the wood, I rubbed a bit of Nuvo Embellishment Mousse in Platinum over each one with my fingers.

And to add a pop of color, I dabbed some Nuvo Crystal Drops in Red Berries onto the wreath… because what’s a holiday wreath without red berries?!

And that’s how you can make a quick weathered wood holiday envelope. Be sure to write your address in a dark marker or pen for the postal service, add the stamp and your card is ready to go!

Thanks for coming by today! Oh, and here is the original card I made with this technique! Happy Black Friday shopping!
