The Fall and Halloween Collection from Spellbinders
I love the summer. But here in Texas, I love autumn more. Even if it is still warm enough for shorts until well into October! I just like the cozy vibe of leaves, hot drinks, and warm colors. So I was tickled pink (or copper?) when I got the chance to try out this beautiful new die from the Fall and Halloween Collection from Spellbinders. These lacy foiled leaves are simply lovely!
I broke out some Distress Reinkers to create the background for the leaves. I spritzed a piece of watercolor cardstock, dropped in some ink (Bundled Sage, Scattered Straw, and Evergreen Bough) along the center, and then swirled the paper around, letting the colors blend. I hit it with a heat tool, though, to speed up the process, then spritzed one more time to lift some spots.
Once it was completely dry, I used Copper Glimmer Foil and the Autumn Leaf Border Hot Foil Plate to create the foiled design. Because I used it twice to cover the card front, I chose a center sentiment to hide the gap. This sentiment is from the More Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plates set. I love these plates – there’s a whole collection of them, and I tell ya, they are the cat’s meow for a sentiment that pops on any card you might make!
To add a little something extra, I trimmed 1-inch pieces of the Basis Brown cardstock I was using and made four “photo corners” to wrap around the edges and match my sentiment strip. Then add that was left to do was add a few Nuvo drops in Dirty Bronze to fill in some of the gaps around the leaves and give the card some texture.
