Review: The Cool Font Bundle at FontBundles.net
Do you like a good font bundle? Me too! I love collecting fonts. Lately, I’ve been picking up a lot of script fonts since that’s the ‘in’ thing nowadays, along with watercolor and gold accents.
There are a few good places on the ‘net for you to find some really nice fonts to use in your designs. One of my favorite places is FontBundles.net.
All the fonts there come with a commercial license. So, if you decide to sell your artwork, there’s no worry about whether or not you have the correct permissions. It’s much easier that way because you don’t have to keep a list of which fonts are ok to use for products 🙂
Anyhow, the lovely folks over at FontBundles.net gave me a copy of The Cool Font Bundle by Cool Design Labs to review. It’s their current font bundle deal, and it’s a great set of scripty and fun fonts.
See those little blue check marks? That means that the font is PUA encoded (you know all those swashes, swirls, and special characters you see in some fonts? You don’t need any fancy software to access them, and they are included in the download). How cool is that?!
For me, I just copy & paste out of Font Book on my Mac when I’d like to use a fancier character.
Want to see some of the neat things I made with this font bundle? I didn’t use every font in a project, I chose my favorites out of them and made a few things to show you the cool stuff you can make. In case you’re interested, Silhouette Studio® is my software of choice when I’m designing stuff.
Augustina
Augustina is a lovely font for making girly t-shirts! There is a ton of extra flourishes you can use to customize the look of your project. My HTV layering skills on fabric need a bit of work, but the script really makes the design here. I’ve been wearing this everywhere.
Mr. Night Script
Ah yes, my favorite font in the bunch. Perfect for wall hangings! Just print out your word or phrase with a laser printer, run it through the Minc to foil it, frame and enjoy. It’s also great for cards too. Check it out here.
Joshan Brush Script
I had fun with this. The font looks truly hand lettered, so I made a mug with some adhesive vinyl, and I love how it came out. Joshan is perfect for those of us that can’t Sharpie our way through a design freehand! Can you see yourself sippin’ on your first coffee of the morning from this?
Angella Script
And of course, it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t make a card for you, right? This is an easy peasy one layer card, perfect for going through the mail. I layered the sentiment, for which I used Angella Script, over a heart image and printed it out. I even was able to swap out the ‘G’ for one of the fancier versions to help balance my design. I created the finished edges with a metal die.
So there you have it. My thoughts on this font bundle? Pick it up before time runs out! If you make cards, decals, custom shirts, home décor or signs, this collection is a great addition to your design arsenal. The savings alone are worth it 🙂
