Inspiration: Peep-Filled Easter Greetings
Happy Easter greetings to you all! I hope everyone is having fun with friends and family today, hunting or decorating eggs, and eating great food and lots of chocolate 🙂
But, if you’re not a chocolate lover, maybe you like those little sugar-studded marshmallow critters that show up right around this time each year – Peeps!
So even though I’m not the biggest Peep fan, the card kit from Simon Says Stamp is still super cute. I couldn’t wait to use the stamp set with chalk inks.
This stamp set is retired now, but Trinity Stamps released a Peep-themed stamp and die set recently! And Scrapbook.com has a complete Peep bundle! Links below in the supply section.
Of course, these are little bunny-shaped Peeps, not the chick ones. I can’t imagine what the stamp images would have been like if they had gone the chick route…
Share Some Easter Greetings
First, I used the bunny outline stamps to create a background for my card. To color them in, I got out some chalk inks. I was looking to create a soft, marshmallow-inspired color palette.
The colored bunny images are stamped a little off from the outline. But, I didn’t pay much attention to coverage on purpose. It gives my background a fun and carefree look.
Next, I trimmed the edges with an MFT Stitched Rectangle die. Then, I cut my ribbon from white and the sentiment frame from white and yellow. That helped me to put it together like an inlay. I colored my ribbon shape with a Copic marker to create an ombré effect.
After that, I stamped my sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black. Then colored in “HUGS” with the same marker I used for my ribbon.
Finally, I adhered everything with a mixture of thin and regular foam squares for dimension. Ta-daa! A peep-filled Easter greeting to tuck into a basket for a friend.
