Make The Cards Challenge #42: Technique
Hello friends! I’m a guest designer today for the Make the Cards Challenge #42! This week’s challenge is all about using a specific technique – to use a background stamp in your project.
I was all over this one! I’ve been dying to use my favorite holiday background stamp from My Favorite Things, aptly named Christmas Background. It’s an older background stamp and hard to find, but I linked a newer version for you that’s just as nice.
How To Make This Card
- Heat emboss a 5.5″ x 4.25″ piece of Basis Green cardstock with your background stamp using Princess Gold embossing powder and Versafine Clair in Rainforest (to match the cardstock color). Be sure to swipe cardstock with an anti-static pouch beforehand to minimize stray powder. Set aside.
- Shape a 5.5″ x 4.25″ piece of Ivory cardstock with Rectangle and Square Stitched dies and your favorite die cutting machine. I use a Platinum 6 from Spellbinders. With a little low-tack tape, you can do this in one pass.
- Adhere the ivory cardstock to the embossed panel with foam squares.
- Stamp and die cut the tag from ivory cardstock using the Wishful Taggins Set. You can use the same Versafine ink as you did before to heat emboss the sentiment; the gold powder covers it up nicely.
- Center, tuck, and attach the tag just under the edge of the top of the “gift.”
- Die cut the frame from CutCardStock Currency Gold cardstock using the Fine Frames die from Altenew. Adhere to the ivory cardstock panel using Aleene’s Tacky Glue.
- Add red and green embellishments, such as pine twig diecuts (from the Winter Taggins Die Set), red enamel dots, and a big ol’ red ribbon bow.
- Adhere your completed card front to an A2 card base.
Thanks for popping in today! Go ahead and pin this project to your Pinterest inspo board for your holiday cards this year, then head back to the Make the Cards Challenge #42 and upload a pic of your take on the challenge. See you there!
This is stunning! Such pretty colors and a beautiful background!
