Beautiful & Easy Floral Congrats Tag with Gold Edge

I spent the afternoon at Target rummaging through the home accents, trying to figure out what I wanted to do for today’s project.  Although I knew I wanted to make a floral Congrats tag for the Tag You’re It Challenge Blog, I had no clue how to do it.

Target is a great place when you’re stuck in a crafting rut. I came home with an idea, and after much fussing and trial and error, this cheerful thing happened 🙂

First off, the lovely and talented Amy Tsuruta created the inspiration piece for Challenge #52 for the Tag You’re It Blog.

It’s a pretty neat birthday card with a tag as the focal point. Amy’s vase of flowers and color choices were my inspiration; I just swapped the layout of the tag and layered up my flowers.

To make the background I first die cut the shape, then swiped a generous amount of Versamark ink across the bottom. No dabbers required – just mash your pad straight on there. Swipe upwards from the bottom edge, though, so there isn’t a hard line where the ink ends.

Next, dip the tag in gold embossing powder and melt it with your heat tool.

As that was cooling down I realized didn’t have a vase die, so I grabbed the next best thing: a coffee mug die from Simon Says Stamp. I ran it through my machine with vellum and then carefully trimmed off the handle. Foam squares just under the flowers keep it in place, and the adhesive stays invisible.

After the vase was in place, I grabbed a layered flower stamp set and stamped and die cut a couple of bunches to put in and around the vase to hide the adhesive. This particular set is from Papertrey Ink.

Finally, I stamped the sentiment after I got the vase in place; it was much easier to see how to line up the words that way. I added black pearl flower centers and a sprinkling of green sequins for good measure.
