Expressions of Faith | Easy and Elegant Card
Hello! Today I have an easy and elegant card to share with you, courtesy of the lovely folks over at Spellbinders. I don’t usually make many religious or faith-based crafts, but when I saw the beautiful crosses and sentiments from the Expressions of Faith Collection, I knew this was the perfect time to give it a whirl.
I immediately knew I had to die cut this cross from something metallic. There was still some gold foil paper left over from the Christmas kit in this post. So that’s what I used, and I tell ya, it looks SO elegant cut in gold.
I had the perfect paper pad for the background and the bouquet in the center of the cross. It’s called The Four Seasons: Spring from P13. The patterns in this stack are beautiful and airy and complement the cross perfectly. I chose a corner to corner design for the background (which I trimmed to fit onto my card front).
Then, I fussy cut the center’s bouquet from another piece of patterned paper.
The cross is attached to the background with a foam square. I wanted to keep with the light and airy feel, so I thought a “floating” focal point would look lovely. The bouquet did a perfect job of hiding the adhesive.
Putting It All Together
Next, I started layering everything onto the top-fold card base. The light green patterned paper was just right to frame the white florals. It’s the same one that I used for the sentiment – more on that in a minute. I trimmed the top corners of the card base and the patterned papers with a 3/8″ Corner Chomper. Then, I layered everything down with some Tombow Xtreme adhesive and popped the cross on top.
You can’t see it well in the photos, but that green paper has a musical pattern. I thought that was a super nice touch on this card. I used some Matte Gold Glimmer Foil with a sentiment from the Faith Glimmer Plate & Die set, then adhered that flat against the card front.
And, of course, nothing is finished without a little bit of sparkle! I added some subtle glitter to the flowers with a clear Wink of Stella brush pen.
Then, I decided there needed to be a bit more gold amongst the florals, so I used a few dots from when I die cut the cross and added them in with small dabs of glue.
And there you have it! I hope you enjoyed this easy and elegant card idea. Don’t forget to pick up the products to make this card at Spellbinders and pin this project to your Pinterest board for later. Enjoy!
