Make The Cards Challenge #12: Butterflies
Hello! I’m guest designing again this week for the Make the Cards Challenge #12! Y’all, it’s such a fun weekly challenge. I hope you join in!
This week’s challenge is butterflies. Right away, I started digging for my favorite butterfly die. It’s an old Memory Box die, I think, and probably retired by now. But never fear, Altenew has a set called Mix & Match Mariposa that’s just perfect if you’re looking for some lovely butterfly dies.
Prepping the Pieces
This card is a super easy one to make and can be mass-produced. I chose patterned paper for the background from a ModaScrap stack I had in my stash, then trimmed and matted it with Basis Black cardstock. I absolutely love ModaScrap paper designs. The one I used today comes from Fly & Scrap.
It’s hard to find nowadays, but I linked to a supplier below who still had a few left when I published this post. Aside from that, you can check out Simon Says Stamp for lots of ModaScrap‘s other 6×6 patterned papers. You can’t go wrong; they are all drop-dead gorgeous, watercolory goodness!
To dress it up a bit, I colored over a few flowers with a clear Wink of Stella brush.
Then, I die cut my butterflies and bent the wings using my favorite tweezers in the whole wide world. It was easy to attach them to the card front with a tiny dab of glue.
For the sentiment, I used a die called Hello Script from Mama Elephant. You can use pretty much any word die with a ‘tail’ that you can run off the edge. Once I adhered it with glue, I gave it a generous coating of Glossy Accents and set it aside to dry.
To finish up, I added a few strategically placed Nuvo Drops in Ebony Black, and the card was done!
Thanks so much for reading today! Pin this idea to your inspiration board on Pinterest for later, and join us at the Make the Cards Challenge #12 to upload your project too!
