Papertrey August Blog Hop Challenge: Masked Florals
The Papertrey August Blog Hop Challenge features a photo from Stella Maria Baer on VSCO. The color combination of black and blue, peach, ivory, and other earth tones is so lovely and is indicative of her work.
I drew from these colors as inspiration for my card.
I gotta tell ya, it was hard not to color those flowers in bright pinks and greens. But, autumn is soon upon us, so I better get into the groove of crunchy leaves, sweaters (or maybe just a heavier t-shirt here in Texas), and pumpkin spice lattés.
To make this background, I used a masking technique with Post-It Notes that have the full coverage sticky backing. They don’t seem to bleed as much as some of the other masking papers out there. I posted the video of the “unmasking” on Instagram if you’d like to see it here.
Once I had all the papers peeled off, I colored my background with Copic markers. Then, I used dies to mat my background and to cut my sentiment from navy and white papers.
Thanks for popping in today to see my entry for the August Blog Hop Challenge! Do you Instagram? Follow me here! I’m always looking for new people to follow, too 🙂
Another stunning card Niki!

Thanks, Leigh! It was fun to do 🙂
Wow- What a lovely background and card. They look great in fall colors.
I was skeptical at first, Noelle, but I kept coloring and hoping I didn’t have to re-stamp a new background, hah!
Stuningly beautiful! I know how hard masking is (or at least I for me it’s the hardest thing in stamping), so I appreciate so much the amazing work you did. Wow! The colours are gorgeous.
Thank you Diana! I’ll agree on the masking – it can be a test of faith, for sure 🙂
That is a gorgeous background! Great job with the masking.
