PTI June Blog Hop Challenge
The June Blog Hop Challenge at Papertrey Ink features a lovely piece of artwork by Yellena James:
Since I loved the colors, that is what I used for the inspiration for my card today. Of course, I pulled out one of my new floral stamp sets to create my take on this beautiful underwater garden.
It’s a lot of stamping and masking, but I love how it turned out. Most of the white areas are done with Versamark Ink and white embossing powder. I used some enamel accents to add a few dots for the spaces I didn’t feel safe reheating.
For the background, I used a mini ink blender with some Peacock Feathers Distress ink and blended up from the bottom of the panel. While it was drying, I stamped the ink pad directly on a clear acrylic block and added a little water. Using a paintbrush, I picked up the color and tapped off some droplets over my blended ink. Once that all dried, I went ahead and stamped my flowers using masking paper where necessary.
And there you have it! I’ll add the links to the supplies I used below. Have a fabulous day!

Thank you!!
Beautiful card! I especially love the splatter!
Me too! Once I realized I could do a tone on tone with the same color ink I used for blending, the desk has been a watery mess ever since. 😀
Fantastic card! Love how the flowers ‘slide in’ from each side. The background captures the inspiration beautifully!
Thank you!
Beautifully inked and splattered background!
Thank you, lady!
Beautifully blended background, complete with artful splatters! You’re making me wish I had bought this stamp set–it’s so pretty!
*enabler alert* It’s never too late, Katherine! What’s one more stamp set, am I right? Haha 🙂
Beautiful card! Your design is lovely. Aren’t these some of the prettiest colors?
Yes they are! I’ve even been looking on the artist’s site to see if I can find something for a background for my computer 🙂
Beautiful colored background! Wow, I would like to learn to do watercolor like that!
I can upload a TinyTutorial this week and show you how – I’ll stick the link here if you like, just hit the ‘notify me of new comments’ or sign up for updates to your inbox on the top of the home page 🙂
This is gorgeous! I love the smooth blend of the background and the speckles.
Thanks! It’s my favorite thing to do when I make my own backgrounds 🙂
